Scuba Equipment and Gear Shops
Scuba equipment shops have everything you need to embark on your dive, whether you are a seasoned pro or a beginner just starting out. Most shops have equipment rentals as well, allowing you to try out different gear to see if you like it before purchasing. Scuba equipment rental is also best for the novice or infrequent diver who may not use their gear enough to make it worth the cost. The drawback to renting equipment is that it often will not fit properly and you may be distracted during your dive by learning how to use the unfamiliar items.
Another good reason to visit scuba equipment shops is to take scuba diving lessons. Most scuba shops offer open water instruction classes for a reasonable fee, often $200 or less. It is always a good idea to take a training course before going scuba diving out in the water on your own. In only a few hours, you can learn to dive in a 30 foot deep pool with an instructor. Other scuba equipment shops may even offer classes out in the ocean so you can get some real experience with open water diving before going in the ocean alone.
